How to File a Personal Statement with Equifax

Use this link to sign in or create a myEquifax account.

Step 2

Once in your account, scroll down to “Disputes” then click “START A DISPUTE.”

You will see this screen below.

Step 3

Scroll down to where you see “Consumer Statement” in red and click “Add a statement.”

Step 4

Write your personal COVID-19 statement of up to 100 words and click “Add.” You can create your own statement or use the sample Equifax language below.

Be advised that the negative accounts on my credit report are related to the Coronavirus. I intend to make these up as soon as I can.

Step 5

Ignore the “My Consumer Statement is not correct” message and click “Finish & Proceed.”

Step 6

Review your Consumer Statement and then click “Submit Dispute.”

NOTE: A Consumer Statement will remain in your Equifax credit report unless you remove it and is viewable each time your Equifax credit report is accessed by a lender or creditor.
