Sam Pannell is a Policy Associate at Tzedek DC. Through coalition building and policy reports, he works to advocate for consumer and DC resident-friendly policies and regulations to protect individuals from harmful debt recollection practices and unjust fines and fees.

Prior to his arrival at Tzedek DC, Sam was a researcher focused on corporate accountability in political spending. During law school, he worked as a law clerk on a variety of issues, including environmental law, employment law, and pregnancy and caregiver discrimination. This work included helping workers receive proper protections during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping workers to receive paid sick leave during the pandemic, and advocating for greater protections against discrimination for pregnant and caregiving workers.

Sam earned a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Alabama and a Juris Doctorate from The University of Tennessee College of Law. He is a member of the Alabama Bar, and he plans to waive into the DC Bar.
